 Outpatient Rehabilitation

Physical Therapy
The physical therapist evaluates and treats functional mobility problems a child may encounter, such as impaired walking and balance. The therapist also assesses strength, range of motion, muscle tone and prescribes specific treatments to address any deficits. Equipment needs are evaluated, and appropriate recommendations are made.

Occupational Therapy

The occupational therapist helps children overcome special challenges. The therapist evaluates and treats deficits in problem-solving, fine motor skills and daily activities. The therapist also addresses the child’s range of motion and strength limitations, and determines adaptive equipment needs.

Speech and Language Pathology

The speech and language pathologist evaluates a patient’s speech and language skills, feeding and swallowing capacity, and oral motor control. Recommendations regarding speech therapy, feeding, swallowing strategies or augmentative communication may also be provided.

Hand and Upper Extremity Therapy

A certified hand therapist builds complex splints and treats virtually every condition, from congenital anomalies to upper extremity spasticity and broken bones.

Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapies

A gentle, hands-on technique that reduces swelling by removing excess fluid and reducing fibrotic build-up.

Dysphagia Treatment and Modified Barium Swallow Studies

A team comprising physical, occupational and speech therapists evaluates and treats pediatric dysphagia, which is the inability to swallow or difficulty in swallowing. Therapists evaluate patient feeding, swallowing and oral motor control and make recommendations regarding feeding and swallowing strategies.

Vocal Cord Dysfunction Program

A speech therapist develops an intensive individualized program to help children develop strategies to prevent episodes of vocal cord dysfunction.
