Learn about the Craniofacial Center at Medical City Children’s Hospital, one of the leading Texas children's hospitals.
 Referral and Evaluation

Craniofacial conditions can be highly complex. The craniofacial surgeon and members of the hospital’s treatment team need to thoroughly evaluate your child before deciding what type of treatment procedures are needed and when they should be performed.

Various craniofacial team members will conduct thorough examinations soon after your child arrives. Team members will discuss the issues surrounding treatment with you and answer your questions.

Any surgical procedures will be performed by surgeons from the surgical group chosen by you and your child’s physician.

Please contact the Craniofacial Program Coordinator for information or an evaluation of your child at 972-566-6666 or 1-800-227-2404, or by e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Before Surgery
The time just before surgery can be busy for patients. Routine laboratory work such as blood and urine samples will be conducted, and treatment team members, including your child’s doctor, lab technicians and the anesthesiologist, will visit you and your child. During this time, you’ll also get to know the nursing staff, a dedicated group of medical professionals specially trained to take care of craniofacial patients and teach proper postoperative care. If a stay in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is anticipated, we are happy to offer a tour of that facility.
